About the Characters
Martine was one of the main characters. She had a special gift where she could communicate with animals. She has a giraffe friend Jemmy. Martine is a fighter for what she believes, hardworker for what she wants, and hopeful for the future. Also, she has brown hair, eyes, and is about average in height. Lastly, she is mostly lonely in the middle of the book, but then is happy when Ben becomes her friend, and is scared when they are on that island. Ben is Martine's friend later in the book. He is shy, but is very intelligent in what he is thinking, lastly, is a down-to-Earth boy. He is a great friend to Martine when she has none. The dolphins play a big role in this book. They help save Martine and her classmates, plus keep them safe on Dugong Island. Even when they are in trouble with Sonar testing, they still try to save the kids.
